Structure of Phonics Lessons at OLASP

We strive to ensure continuity and progression in our phonics teaching across year groups and key stages.

Our phonics leader provides training for staff so that they know what our phonics lessons should look like and we also implement common approaches, resources, games and activities with a continuous thread and theme, again to support progression and continuity.

Phonics lessons are taught discretely each day in Nursery, Reception, Key Stage One and into lower Key stage Two, so progression and continuity are key.  The required elements and timings of our phonics lessons are set out as 'non-negotiables' which should be evident in all phonics lessons across classes, year groups and key stages.
