Celebrating Black History Month - October 2023

❀️ Black History Month 2023 is a momentous occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British society.

🧑 However, despite their countless contributions to society, the achievements of black women, in particular, have too often been overlooked or forgotten. That is why, this year, we will be celebrating the exceptional achievements of black women.

πŸ’š The theme of ‘Saluting our Sisters’ highlights the crucial role that black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. This year’s celebration will showcase pioneering black women who have made remarkable contributions to literature, music, fashion, sport, business, politics, academia, social and health care, and more.

❀️ Throughout October, each class will learn about the significant achievements of women such as Rosa Parks, Mary Seacole, Maya Angelou, Floella Benjamin & Beverley Knight, before coming together at the end of the month, to celebrate all we have discovered about these amazing women!

EVENTS 2022 - 2023

🌟 OLASP School Uniform Exchange🌟

πŸ”ΉIn recent times, family budgets are being stretched to the limit - and we can all do with a little extra help.

πŸ”Ή School uniforms can often cost a lot of money so, with this in mind, we will make pre-used uniform items in good condition available to all our families, free of charge, before we finish for the summer. We hope this will assist you with the cost of school uniform for next year.

πŸ”Ή It’s simple - just bring in your pre-loved uniform and exchange it for the next size up! All items will be in good condition and free of charge - so why not come along and stock up for the year ahead?!

πŸ”Ή All items donated will be available during the last two weeks of term (Monday 10th to Wednesday 19th July), in the school hall at the beginning and end of the day.

πŸ”Ή Please send in any unwanted uniform items - which MUST be washed and in good condition, please. Alternatively, just bring them along with you on the day to swap for a bigger size. If you don't have any uniform to exchange, please come along anyway and help yourself to uniform items for next year - there's always plenty to go round!

πŸ”Ή Good for our pockets - and good for the planet!!!
