Mrs Morrison Miss Stewardson
Mrs Morrison and Miss Stewardson are our Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (or ELSA for short!)
They been trained by Educational Psychologists to plan and deliver programmes of support to pupils who are experiencing temporary or longer term additional emotional needs. The majority of ELSA work is delivered on an individual basis, but sometimes small group work is more appropriate, especially in the areas of social and friendship skills. Sessions are fun, we use a range of activities such as: games, role-play with puppets or arts and craft. ELSA sessions take place in 'The Den' and 'The Nest' which provide a calm, safe space for the child to feel supported and nurtured.
Mrs Johnston
Here at Our Lady and St Patrick's, we have our own designated qualified counsellor. Mrs Johnston provides confidential one-to-one counselling for children.
Counselling offers children the opportunity to talk in confidence about a difficulty they may be having or distress they may be experiencing - and work with the counsellor to find their own way forward from these issues. Counselling is primarily a 'talking therapy' but can encompass other activities to support pupils' expression and communication, such as sand-tray work.
Mrs Werakso
Our aim at Our Lady's is to welcome, value and support all of our children and their families. Mrs Werakso helps to support our Polish children and their families.
Joy Byrne is the SEND Governor.
